Deck the Halls: The Christmas Tree

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. You all know the drill...kids, Christmas shopping, helping to organize a major fundraiser for 250 people, my neighborhood luminary project...oh yeah, and throw in the daily housekeeping and laundry on top of that.

Hubby and I agreed to get a tree that was a little bigger than last year, but not as big as the previous year's had been. Every year the tree size is debated. He wants one you'll need a 10 foot step ladder to get the star on top of and I just want to be able to reach up and place the star.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Although the tree is bigger than last year's tree and not as big as the previous year's as we had compromised...it still takes up about a quarter of the room it is in, and required a 4 foot step ladder to place the star.

Andy likes colored lights on the tree. Another compromise. I like white lights, so I use white lights outside and on the garlands, and he uses colored on the tree. Our ornaments are a mish-mosh of things we've picked up over the years and some special memories along with ornaments from our childhood.

Barbie & Ken were our cake toppers at our wedding and now reside on our Christmas tree every year.

A few years ago Hallmark began a series of ornaments from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Andy received one as a gift and was hooked. This year's ornament is a moose mug that says lines from the movie. LOL

I've been collecting Hallmark's Barbie Series ornaments since 1994 when they were first introduced. This is Country Club Dance Barbie from 2009. Andy likes to refer to our Christmas tree as the "estrogen tree" because of all my Barbie ornaments. Do the math people...1994 to present...that's a lot of Barbies : )

Merry Christmas
